God’s “great and precious” promises hold out wonderful possibilities for us. They are detailed in the Old Testament, and confirmed and elaborated on in the New Testament. For instance, God’s promises to Abraham are described in the New Testament as “the gospel” and important comment stresses their relevance to us today. His promises to King David of Israel were confirmed to the virgin Mary by the angel Gabriel before the birth of Jesus and they predict a royal role for him in Jerusalem that is still future to us today.
These promises revolve around the Lord Jesus Christ and his future kingship of God’s Kingdom on this earth. They were firmly believed in by his apostles. They involve resurrection from the dead and explain that the place of reward for faithful people will be on the earth. Consequently they are capable of building and solidifying a life-giving faith that offers an incomparable hope for your future that is described as “an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast”.
We invite you to a free Bible presentation on Sunday evening the 28th of January at 7.00pm on the subject: God’s great promises.
